Dr. James E. LoCascio attended Wayne State University for undergraduate work and then went to the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, graduating in 1981. Since then, he has continued to stay atop of the latest training and research. He received advanced dental implant training at the Misch Implant Institute, holds a fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and has taken courses in advanced restorative dentistry (including TMJ and bite issues) from the Pankey Institute for Continuing Dental Education. He is also a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
One of Dr. LoCascio’s recent achievements is becoming the first general dentist in Michigan to be certified in the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique, a gum recession treatment that is much less invasive and time-consuming than traditional surgical procedures.
Dr. LoCascio also has extensive training in the treatment of sleep apnea. In addition to the many hours of continuing education in this area, he has also completed the Dental Sleep Medicine Program at the Pankey Institute. Dr. LoCascio is an AADSM Qualified Dentist, which demonstrates his knowledge of dental sleep medicine.
Dr. LoCascio started as a dental associate in Detroit before joining a group practice in Waterford, MI. He felt a group practice didn’t give him the freedom and flexibility needed to provide the care his patients deserved, so he opened his own dental office in Waterford in 1997. Ten years later he moved his practice to Highland Township, where you can find him today. He has been in dentistry for over 35 years and estimates he has worked with more than 75,000 patients. He has been happily seeing many of those patients for over 30 years.
Dr. LoCascio loves being able to help patients get the smiles they have always dreamed of. When not working, he spends his time traveling with his wife, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing poker, and playing with his four grandchildren.
