As we embark on a new year, you are probably setting goals for yourself. Maybe you want to start eating better or exercising more. We also encourage you to maintain good oral health next year. You can do that by:

  • Visiting every six months for a dental checkup. If you haven’t been faithful about seeing us regularly for a cleaning and exam, it’s time to start. Regular checkups keep your smile healthy and stay ahead of oral health problems as they arise.
  • Brush twice a day for two minutes at a time. You probably don’t pay much attention to how long you brush your teeth, but the American Dental Association recommends you brush for two minutes. Make it a point to brush for the recommended length of time to keep your smile in great shape.
  • Floss once a day. Flossing is one of the best things you can add to your oral hygiene routine. If you do floss at least once, you’d be one of the few that do! Unfortunately, only 37 percent of Americans report daily flossing in a recent study.

These may sound like simple ways to maintain good oral health but they are important.
