Imagine for a moment that you and that special someone have decided to go out to dinner to celebrate a special occasion. It could be for an anniversary, birthday, or even a job promotion.

They really want to try a new steak place in town that everyone loves. You’ve heard great things about it, too. In fact, a thick, juicy steak sounds marvelous.

But then reality sets in. Your dentures won’t allow you to eat steak – or any hearty foods that require a lot of chewing. They barely stay in your mouth when you’re eating soft foods, much less a steak.

You give in and reluctantly agree to the steak place, realizing that you may have to settle for soup, mashed potatoes, or another soft food. Meanwhile, your companion will be enjoying one of those delicious steaks you’ve heard so much about.

If this could be a scene out of your life, we have some great news for you! Using dental implants, you could soon experience freedom from floppy dentures. The team here at Highland Advanced Dental Care has helped many patients enjoy all the advantages of implant dentures – and we can do the same for you!

Dental Implants Can Change Your Life For the Better

You owe it to yourself to learn more about dental implants and how they can improve your life. Implants are small metal posts, usually fashioned from titanium, that Dr. LoCascio can insert into your jaw.

Although people have used implants in one form or another for several centuries, their technology has made dramatic leaps forward in recent decades. The modern dental implant as we know it was developed in the 1960s.

Titanium is the metal of choice because it was discovered that it will fuse with bone material to become a stable base for new teeth. Your body accepts titanium just like it accepts its own bone.

After placement, the fusion process (known as osseointegration) occurs over a period of several months. At this point, your implants will be ready to have your dentures attached to them.

Besides dentures, we also offer several other types of implant restorations. You may even be a candidate to receive your implants and new replacement teeth the same day. Be sure to ask us about this procedure, known as All-on-4®.

Take Your Choice of Implant Dentures

If you’re ready to say goodbye to loose, ill-fitting dentures, you’ll have two great choices for new implant dentures. Implant-retained dentures will secure in place using a system of balls and snaps. Once you place them into your mouth, they will stay firmly put until you remove them for cleaning and care.

You’ll be able to eat whatever you want off the menu without worrying that your teeth will slip, pop out, or make clicking noises while you chew. Go ahead and order that hearty steak or pork chops. Indulge in corn-on-the-cob. Your new teeth won’t fail you like your old dentures would.

Your other implant denture option is implant-supported dentures. While these teeth are similar to implant-retained dentures, they will instead anchor to a sturdy bar that is fastened to a set of implants.

While eating, this setup transfers all the forces created by biting and chewing directly to your jawbone, just like your natural teeth do. This action makes them our best fitting and most comfortable type of denture. They will come closest to mimicking the feel of your natural teeth.

Plus, you won’t need to remove your dentures for cleaning each day. Implant-supported dentures are designed to remain anchored in place and only be removed by a dentist if necessary. All you’ll need to do is brush your teeth like you normally would and visit us every six months for a routine dental exam and cleaning.

With implant dentures, new menu options will be opened up to you. Maybe it’s been years since you could really eat your favorite foods. If you’re tired of picking and choosing from the menu and settling for bland tasteless foods, the team at Highland Advanced Dental Care would love to help you.

Keep Your Jawbone Intact With Dental Implants

Besides allowing you to eat all your favorite foods again, dental implants offer you another great benefit. They will actually help preserve and strengthen your jawbone.

When you lose teeth, the bone in that area will naturally begin to deteriorate because there is no tooth root to stimulate it. Over time, bone loss can lead to changes in the shape of your face. The result is a “sunken-face” that can make you look years older than you really are.

Implants help prevent that, however. They will actually stimulate your jawbone to produce new bone material, keeping your jaw strong and healthy and helping you maintain a more youthful appearance.
