Anyone who has ever owned a smartphone knows how fast technology can change. Sometimes it seems like you buy a phone with all the latest bells and whistles, only to find out just weeks later that there are more features out there that you don’t have.

Dentistry is no different in terms of technology. While it might not move as fast as the technology around smartphones, it does change. The changes that happen in dentistry are designed to give you more options for a healthy smile. They also make dental procedures easily on you.

Dr. James E. LoCascio of Highland Advanced Dental Care in Highland Township, MI, knows how important the latest dental techniques are to his patients. That’s why he stays on top of them.

Here are some of the things that set Dr. LoCascio apart from other dentists:

  • He received advanced dental implant training at the Misch Implant Institute.
  • He holds a fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantology.
  • He took courses in advanced restorative dentistry (including TMJ and bite issues) from the Pankey Institute for Continuing Dental Education.
  • He is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
  • He learned the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique, a gum recession treatment that is much less invasive and time consuming than traditional surgical procedures. Dr. LoCascio was the first general dentist in Michigan to be certified in the technique.

Here are some of the most transformative dental procedures that Dr. LoCascio can provide:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial root, that can be fitted with a replacement tooth to fill the space left behind by a tooth that has fallen out or had to be pulled. With this procedure, Dr. LoCascio would implant an artificial root, made from titanium, into your jawbone. As the site heals, the bone fuses with the implant to provide an incredibly strong hold.

Dr. LoCascio will place an abutment on the implant and attach the replacement tooth. The replacement tooth will look so much like your natural teeth that people won’t be able to tell the difference.

All-On-4® Implants

If you have quite a few teeth missing, Dr. LoCascio can offer you a variation on the single tooth implant.

All-on-4 implants are similar to dentures in that they will replace all of the teeth on the top or bottom of your mouth. While dentures are normally held in place with special adhesive, All-on-4 implants are fused directly into your jawbone using four titanium roots. That means no sliding around like dentures.

All-on-4 implants are a stronger and more lasting solution than dentures.

Other Options

If you’d like to add a little oomph to your smile, you can count on Highland Advanced Dental Care to help. Here are some of the technologies that Dr. LoCascio can use to improve your smile.

ClearCorrect. One of the ways technology has improved the dental experience is with ClearCorrect. ClearCorrect is a short-term orthodontic treatment that uses clear plastic aligners to gently move teeth where they belong.

Dental veneers. Porcelain veneers are a very good option in situations where an original tooth has become discolored, is misshapen, and or has irregular contours. They’re also a good option for concealing unsightly gaps between the teeth. They look completely natural and are strong and durable.

Teeth whitening. Have your teeth lost some whiteness? This can be caused by certain foods you eat or liquids you drink. You might have tried over-the-counter whiteners and weren’t completely satisfied with the result. Professional whitening kits contain a stronger peroxide solution and can bring that dazzle back to your smile. They can still be done at home!

Gum recession treatment. When your gums start to recede and pull away from your teeth, it’s not normal. As we mentioned earlier, Dr. LoCascio was the first Michigan general dentist to be trained in the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique for treating gum recession. In this procedure, Dr. LoCascio will make a pinhole in your receding gums and then gently move the gum tissue around to cover the parts of the tooth that are supposed to be covered. The technique is fast and effective, and it can often be completed in just one visit.

These are just a few of the new and improved dental techniques that Dr. LoCascio is trained in. Would you like to talk to him about what he can do for your smile? Call 248-329-3552 or make an appointment using our online form.
